He says other states allow the open carry of firearms without problems.

One of the co-authors of the open carry bill signed into law by Governor Fallin on Tuesday says the economic development of Oklahoma won't be hurt by his bill becoming law.

Representative Jeff Hickman of Dacoma says Oklahoma isn't the first state to allow people to openly carry a firearm...

"You simply don't see large numbers of people walking up and down the streets with a gun on their hip and gun fights breaking out in the streets.  But, a lot of the arguments against this are unfounded.  Particularly when you look at the large number of states that already allow it."

Hickman says this is a responsible law.

It goes into effect November First.
