Separate child molestation case could be developing here in Oklahoma.
A man being held in the Muskogee County Jail is facing extradition to Idaho on a child molestation charge. This, as another child molestation case might be unfolding here in Oklahoma.
Authorities say 58-year-old Franklin Payton is charged in Idaho with lewd conduct with a child under age sixteen.
Muskogee County Sheriff's Deputy Roy Banks says here in Oklahoma, a three-year-old girl who had been reported missing was found in Payton's mother's home in Haskell.
"Hiding under a bed, with little or no clothing on. In fact, no clothing on, at the time she was found," Banks told KTOK.
Banks says the girl was examined by doctors, and an investigation's underway.
Banks says a Haskell resident who had heard Payton had been in trouble in Idaho did an online search, and alerted authorities Payton was wanted in that state.
"They advised me they had heard Payton had been in trouble up in Idaho, and they got on the internet and researched it. They found out he was a fugitive from Idaho who had skipped out on child molestation charges," Banks said.
