Says higher education should tighten its belt.
The State Regents for Higher Education approved tuition increases Thursday at 25 state colleges and universities, ranging from 2.8% at OSU to nearly 8% at the University of Central Oklahoma. State Representative James Lockhart of Heavener says he is 'irked' by the move. "I think they need Legislative approval to raise tuition and that's something I'm willing to work on next session," he told KTOK news. "I believe they should tighten their belt just like other state agencies."
