Benjamin Whiteshield had long, criminal history.
A Clinton police officer shot and killed a man early Wednesday who had actually been driven to the Police Department by relatives who said he was delusional. OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown says 34-year-old Benjamin Whiteshield grabbed a large crescent wrench from the vehicle he was riding in and threatened an officer who shot him in the mouth. Whiteshield ran into the police department was subdued by officers. He was taken to a hospital in Clinton where he was pronounced dead. The OSBI is investigating. Brown says Whiteshield has a long, violent criminal history.
