Doesn't buy argument that some tax cuts should expire.
President Obama is calling on Congress to extend Bush-era tax cuts due to expire the end of the year only for families making $250,000 or less. Oklahoma Republican Congressman Tom Cole says "it's all politics all of the time" with President Obama. "After 41 straight months of 8% or higher unemployment, a call for tax hikes is the last thing the job market needs." He says President Obama is "short-sighted" and that his concerns are more political than economic.
Oklahoma U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe says President Obama is wrong to call for a tax increase. "This is nothing more than President Obama trying to pivot back towards his campaign rhetoric that is aimed at creating class warfare in this nation," he said. "Raising taxes on job creators is the wrong thing to do especially when our economy has stalled with the unemployment rate remaining about 8% for 41 straight months."
