Cash payments allegedly totaled more than $800,000.
An indictment unsealed Thursday in Oklahoma City federal court charged a former Tinker official with accepting bribes in exchange for government contracts. 70-year-old James Loman of McLoud was arrested and appeared in federal court. He worked as an Item Manager at Tinker Air Force Base and his job involved purchasing replacement parts for military aircraft, in particular those that use Boeing 707 airframes. The indictment alleges that between 2002 and 2006 he accepted large cash payments from an individual associated with Daytona Aerospace, Inc. of Deerfield Beach, Florida in exchange for favorable treatment. Loman allegedly drove to Florida on several occasions to pick up the cash. He even allegedly sent faxes to the individual in Florida calculating his bribe payments on a percentage of aircraft sales to the Air Force. The indictment charges Loman with accepting bribes, conspiracy and conflict of interest.
