Authorities want to find the person who threw a dog off a bridge onto Interstate 40.
Oklahoma County Sheriff's spokesman Mark Myers said the dog was apparently thrown from the Southeast 59th Street bridge, Wednesday afternoon.
He said a state trooper reported a truck driver witnessed someone throw the dog off the bridge.
"The dog had some critical injuries, including internal bleeding and a broken back foot," Myers told KTOK.
A deputy reported the dog appeared to have lost a lot of blood.
Myers said the German Shepard-type dog was taken to an animal hospital in Harrah. A woman at that clinic told KTOK the dog could undergo surgery, if he becomes well enough.
Myers said deputies learned the dog's name is "Rookie."
The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible party.
"Really, we'd like to have that truck driver come back forward. Hopefully he or she is someone local," Myers said.
