Lake Thunderbird near record low level.
Because of the ongoing drought conditions and the effect on Lake Thunderbird, the City of Norman has ordered mandatory outdoor water rationing. City Manager Steve Lewis says the water level in Lake Thunderbird is 7-and-a-half feet below the normal pool elevation and is on track next month to meet and exceed the historical record low level set in 2006. Until further notice, an odd-even outdoor watering system will be in place. NO watering is allowed on Wednesday and Thursday of each week and no outdoor watering or irrigation is allowed between the hours of 9am and 6pm. Washing of cars, trucks, trailers or other vehicles is prohibited unless the vehicles are taken to a commercial car wash.
