Report: "... meaningless for school improvement ..."
A team of researchers from O.U. and O.S.U. says the A to F grading system for public schools should be tossed out.
O-U researcher Patrick Forsyth says the system is meaningless for school improvement purposes. Forsyth says the A to F system, based on student achievement, student growth and whole school performance, is seriously flawed.
"The A to F framework contains serious threats to validity and reliability and is not salvageable in its current form," Forsyth told reporters on Thursday.
Forsyth says the report determines the State Board of Education should scrap the A to F grading system and go back to the drawing board.
The report states: "An effective school accountability system, aimed at improving schools, is possible only with consent, support and cooperation of parents, school professionals and the state's leadership."
