Lamb: "We're learning a lot ..."

Members of a special commission on school safety are hearing from safety experts, psychologists and others.

Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb said the Oklahoma Commission on School Security is looking at numerous issues. Lamb says the safety of rural schools, some of which are geographically isolated, is under discussion.

"They're further away from law enforcement, often times just the county law enforcement. They're further away from first responders. They're out in the open. Today's commission meeting discussed, in part, the vulnerability and exposure of rural schools," Lamb told KTOK.

The Oklahoma Commission on School Security will meet several more times in the coming weeks, before making recommendations to legislators.
