More patrol units passing by and parking at schools....
At a time when the Oklahoma legislature is debating whether teachers and school administrators should be allowed to carry handguns at school...after state required training in gun safety...it seems the Edmond Police are moving forward with schools there to increase presence on campuses.
Edmond Police are apparently going to be doing more of the daily reports while sitting in their police units in front of area schools, rather than going back to the precinct offices to do the paperwork.
That's not all, though, as some officers are adopting certain schools, where they may stop by during the day to visit with principals and students as well as pass by the schools more often in their daily patrol routes.
And to take the process one step farther, Edmond Police have also produced a video that's been distributed to the schools so principals can share the information with teachers, students, and parents.
