Bill involves age of consent.
A state Senate bill would make it illegal for any adult church employee or volunteer to have sex with anyone under age eighteen.
It's run by Senator A.J. Griffin of Guthire.
Senator Rick Brinkley of Owasso brought up an example of an eighteen-year-old church volunteer.
"He is a volunteer custodian and he has sex with his sixteen-year-old girlfriend. Consensually. By this definition, he could be charged with rape?"
"The D.A., under his discretion, could issue that charge under this statute," Griffin answered.
After several questions, the bill passed and goes to the House for consideration.
