Keeping Oklahoma school kids safe. It's the crux of a couple of state Senate bills approved in a House committee, on Wednesday.
The bills are authored by House Speaker T.W. Shannon and Senate President Pro Tem Brian Bingman. They were presented in the House Public Safety Committee by Representative Fred Jordan, of Jenks.
"Incorporates the information of Lieutenant Governor Lamb's study on school safety, after the gun issues," Jordan told the committee.
Jordan said schools and colleges would have to submit safety plans to police, fire departments and other public safety entities, to make sure everyone's on board with school emergency plans.
Both Senate bills proceed to the House floor.
